Facts About Essential Sugars (Glyconutrients)Essential sugars are the sugars we need for proper health. These sugars provide us with energy, but do not raise blood sugar and are not even necessarily sweet. The book Harper's Bio-Chemistry says there are eight essential sugars. The average American diet only contains two. One is the normal sugar found in candy bars. The other is that found in dairy products. The SIX we don’t readily have access to are those found in apples, aloe vera, sumac sap, larch trees and other fruit. If you are deficient in the other your immune system and other bodily function will not function efficiently. Sugar molecules are positioned at the surface of the cell. Immune system cells roam throughout the body and bump into these sugar cells and "ask" them three questions: Are you a foreign invader, such as a parasite or acid that should not be here? (If so, the immune system "sends in the troops" to destroy it.) If the cell is not harmful: "Do you need help?" (If not, they leave it alone.) If yes, "What kind of help do you need?" The Immune system then provides the help that is needed. If your essential sugar levels are not sufficient, this communication is ineffective. It is easier for you to get sick and have low energy. Dandy-Lyon Bites are rich in the essential sugars not present in our typical diets to keep you from getting sick. |
